Review: School of Business Administration, Professional Masters of Business Administration

Degree Offered: M.B.A. Format: Online
Program Description: The Ole Miss Professional MBA program consists of a 36 semester-hour curriculum designed for part-time students. Even if you have a full-time job, the Professional MBA is flexible enough to fit your schedule. The program may be completed over a two year period if a student chooses to take 2 courses each semester – fall semester, spring semester and summer session. Alternatively, a student may choose to enroll in courses at a rate of one class a semester. The curriculum focuses on developing the analytical skills and breadth of judgment that are essential elements in effective decision making for any organization. A thorough understanding of the functional areas of business is built from the required courses. In just four regular semesters and two summer sessions, you can earn an MBA from an accredited business school at the widely respected, historic University of Mississippi. The Ole Miss Professional MBA curriculum covers the same ground as the on-campus program and is taught by the same faculty. The difference is that you don't have to leave your job or uproot your family to get your MBA - and you don't have to settle for a less prestigious school. Tuition Tuition for the 36 semester hour program (6 credits over 6 semesters) can be calculated at the current rates by going to our Tuition Estimation Form. All PMBA online students receive the resident rate plus a $75 per credit hour technology fee. Accreditation: The School of Business Administration was initially accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 1944. AACSB has since been renamed to the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business. Accreditation is offered only to schools that meet the strict academic standards and program requirements prescribed by this association. Both the undergraduate and graduate curricula received full re-accreditation in 2001. Rather than remain content with the status quo, the school continues to evaluate and revise its programs to meet the standards reflective of contemporary issues and demands. Eligibility Requirements: The admission requirements listed below are the minimum required for consideration for admission. To be considered for admission, applicants must: • Hold a bachelor's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution. • Have a GPA in excess of 3.0 on the most recent 60 semester hours of course work. • Complete the course equivalents of Principles of Accounting I and Business Finance I with a grade of "C" or better. • Submit an official GMAT score that indicates sufficient preparation for a rigorous graduate business program. 550+ score is preferred. • Follow the online application instructions to submit contact information for two letters of reference. • Submit a statement of purpose with your name included. • Two years of full-time, professional work experience are required for PMBA admission.
